PROGRAMS
ICSN’s members and supporters are pleased to offer a number of programs and initiatives for Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPOC)’s pursing a career in the amateur sports industry.
All of our programs fall within our objectives of celebration, advocacy through allyship and networking. Our initiatives all advance the strengthening of BIPOC sport communities while also demonstrating allyship to push forward the necessity of accessibility for BIPOC amateur sport groups.
Coach / Administrator / Sport Medicine / Officials Support
Coaches, Administrators, Sport Medicine professions and officials play a pivotal role in our communities across Canada as leaders, mentors, and agents of social change. BIPOC’s have and continue to play roles as caretakers of culture in playing leading roles in their communities and as visible representatives for the next generation.
The ICSN intends to empower, support and connect BIPOC’s of all sport backgrounds by providing and promoting:
Celebration
The ICSN will use our platforms to celebrate the advancements of sport coaches, officials, sport administrators and support staff to the larger sport community. Check out our Beyond The Sidelines features to learn more about our Leaders Through Sport!
Advocacy Through Allyship
To combat the challenges of intersectionality, that is the systemic barriers that exist for BIPOC’s in the Canadian amateur sports sector, we will come together alongside of our allies to fight for equity and opportunity for racialized minorities.
The Black Female Coach Mentorship Program and The Racial Equity Project are two examples of ICSN led initiatives that have united our Canadian sport community on a national scale towards a more equitable future.

We’re a collaborative effort by ICSN, RISE, Transathlete.com, DIECE and more, dedicated to supporting administrators and student-athletes in fostering inclusivity within post-secondary athletic programs. Our tailored resources and insights aim to empower administrators with knowledge and strategies while equipping student-athletes to advocate for their rights and foster inclusivity within their athletic communities.
